Antioxidants Benefits
Exercise is bad for you!
....not really but I thought it would grab your attention!
In fact exercise is very good for you. You can lose weight, get fit, improve strength and muscle tone. You'll have more energy and self confidence.
However there is one drawback to exercise. It increases the production of unstable molecules called 'free radicals' that will whizz around your body causing potential harm to healthy cells.
But help is at hand...antioxidant rich foods which render the free radicals harmless. Here are some examples.
As you can see there are plenty of nutritious ways of getting those anti oxidants into your body. When it comes to the Red wine and chocolates, be sensible. The recommended weekly alcohol allowance for a male is 21 units and for a female 14 units. With the chocolate you have to be careful of the calories so don’t go eating a whole bar, just a small chunk or two as a treat. So you can cut it down but not cut it out.
Some of the foods listed above are also great snacks such as the berries, oranges and dried apricots and you can use these as ways of avoiding those energy slumps that tend to hit us mid afternoon. By snacking on a handful you’ll avoid your blood sugar levels crashing and so boosting your energy in a sensible and healthy way. Avoid energy drinks and chocolate bars to do this as they will only raise your blood sugar levels very quickly but then lead to another energy slump as your sugar levels crash.
Not only are these snacks good for energy levels but they also provide essential nutrients such as Vitamin C which helps to ward off those nasty colds that tend to spread quickly.
